Classes:

Pollywog

  • Ages: Approximately 4 mo. up to 2 yrs.
  • In the Pollywog swim lesson class, the parent remains in the water as the child gains confidence while working directly with the instructor. Children 2.5 yrs. old that can work independently with an instructor and will sit on the steps and take direction, should register for the Starfish class in the Elementary Program.

Swimming Skills Taught: Blowing bubbles, getting their face wet, scooping the water with their hands, front and back floats with a kicking action as well as safety skills such as holding onto the edge and the beginning of learning how to climb from the pool.

Goldfish

  • Ages: Approximately 2 yrs. up to 3 yrs.
  • In the Goldfish swim lesson class, parents remain in the water as the child gains confidence while working directly with the instructor. Children 2.5 yrs. old that can work independently with an instructor and will sit on the steps and take direction, should register for the Starfish class in the Elementary Program.

Skills Taught: Sitting on the steps and following directions, blowing bubbles, getting their face wet, scooping the water with their hands, front and back floats, kicking while floating on their back as well as safety skills such as holding onto the edge and climbing from the pool with no assistance.

Marlin

  • Ages: Approximately 7 yrs. – 12 yrs.
  • In the Marlin beginner swim lesson class, students will become comfortable submerging and learning the basics of rhythmic breathing, basics of side breathing for freestyle, stream lines on front and back, elementary backstroke, along with an introduction to various stroke mechanics. In this swimming lesson they will learn to float on their front and back, tread water and submerge for objects with their eyes open

Skills Taught: Basic freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke for short distances.

Barracuda

  • Ages: Approximately 7 yrs. – 12 yrs.
  • In the Barracuda intermediate swim lesson class, the focus is on proper technique in preparation for fast swimming. Side breathing for freestyle (continuous), breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, and various drills for each stroke. Additional swimming skills include kneeling dives, enhanced treading and retrieval of objects from the pool floor.

​Skills Taught: Building a fast flutter kick, Freestyle, Elementary Backstroke, Backstroke, Breaststroke with proper timing, basics of Butterfly, Kneeling dives, Treading with different kicks.

Shark

  • Ages: Approximately 7 yrs. – 12 yrs.
  • The Shark level is an advanced swim lesson class where students will continue to on work on stroke technique, and refining all skills. There will be more emphasis on swimming longer distances, learning about fundamentals of interval training.

Skills Taught: A more in depth understanding of Butterfly, all four competitive strokes and their appropriate turns, learning how to swim longer distances, and basic interval training.

Teen & Adult Beginner

  • Ages: Ages 13 yrs and Older
  • The Teen & Adult Beginners swim lessons are an introduction to swimming for teens or adults that are trying to learn the basics needed to swim. This course is designed to help students overcome their fear of the water and build confidence as well.

Skills Taught: Front and back float, front and back glide, front crawl with side breathing, elementary backstroke, treading water, swim full length of pool on front.

Intermediate Teen & Adult

  • Ages: Ages 13 yrs. and Older
  • The Intermediate Teen & Adult swim lesson class is for the teen and adult students who are not fearful of the water, have some swimming experience and are looking to improve on their overall swim technique and endurance.

Skills Taught: Freestyle with side breathing for 2 laps, backstroke for 2 laps, breaststroke for 1 lap, open turns, treading water for 2 minutes.

Advanced Teen & Adult

  • Ages: Ages 13 yrs. and Older
  • The Advanced Teen & Adult swim lessons are geared toward the more advanced swimmer looking to take their swimming to the next level. They will work to extend their lap swimming, preparing to join the Competition III clinics, ironman competitions, etc.

Skills Taught: Freestyle with side breathing for 200 yards, flip turns, open turns, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, reading and understanding swim workouts as written by a coach.
